A Hidden Gem in the Stelvio National Park

Construction of a new suspended mountain shelter conceived as a light and contemporary metal structure, featuring a large pentagonal window that frames the landscape of Valfurva.

The project reinterprets traditional alpine bivouacs through a contemporary design approach, creating a harmonious contrast with the surrounding environment.

Non-invasive materials and dry construction techniques are employed to ensure sustainability and ease of assembly, supported by modular helicopter transport. The structure is elevated above the ground to protect it from moisture and insulated with eco-friendly panels made from rice husk. The interiors, finished with recycled wood, provide functional spaces organized into an entrance area, sleeping quarters, and living space, with a concealed kitchen and smart solutions for water collection and solar energy use.

The project also includes the recovery of the ruins of the previous bivouac, transforming them into information and rest points, allowing the intervention to blend seamlessly with the alpine landscape.
