Sertec: tells it about hemp sheets.
The iconic projects were reinterpreted by a painter from Settimo Rottaro on 0 km canvases and colours.
What do old hemp sheets have to do with one of the longest-running multidisciplinary engineering firms in Italy? What link is there between the rigor of a technical design and the colors obtained from the raw materials present in Canavese?
The connection exists and today it can be found hanging at the entrance of the very bright Sertec headquarters where Sertec Engineering together with Maria Giachetti, restorer of cultural heritage and painter from Settimo Rottaro, completed the SERTEC FOR ART project. “Inside the factory there is not only technique, but also culture and a spirit of innovation”: Adriano Olivetti’s phrase guided Sertec in this initiative.
The result of this project lies in the four works in linseed oil on hemp on display in the large open space overlooking Mombarone where artistic reinterpretations of technical drawings and iconic projects developed over time by Sertec are shown: “The Family” inspired by the Ivrea court , “Sertec Lebanon” inspired by the competition of ideas and architecture for the tourist complex in Kaslik in Lebanon, “The three Mantids” the artist’s interpretation of the Sertec Lebanon project and “Sertec Harrisburg” for the architectural design of the Harrisburg plant.
In May, with an event on site, Sertec will officially present the gallery, in the hope that ideas for other cultural initiatives will arise here to be shared with mayors and local entities, including productive ones. “We started with two objectives. On the one hand we wanted to dispel the cliché of engineering that only thinks about numbers, being convinced that there is a common thread between engineering and art. On the other hand, we who have had so much from the territory and which continues to give us so much satisfaction, wanted to express this bond between universes that are only apparently distant, using the language of the Canavese area. Maria Giachetti’s technique is perfect in this sense” explains Lorenzo Vignono, promoter of the project, partner and Project Manager of the technical area of Sertec.
