The Municipal Administration of Alviano has entrusted Sertec Engineering Consulting, ADW Architects and Architect Lorenzo Annibale with the design of the new school complex for the Attigliano-Guardea Comprehensive Institute, in the Municipality of Alviano, a project financed with PNNR funds.

The design idea is to insert the building into the project area so that it integrates totally into the landscape, without becoming an impacting element, responding to the topographical, climatic and exposure characteristics of the geographical area and secondly to the pedagogical and didactic needs for create a place that is closed, safe and at the same time dynamic, flexible, playful, social, for exchange and interaction between users of different ages.

The building is the container of educational spaces organized according to an idea of a new, open and integrating school with the aim of proposing environments in which the relationship between the pedagogical-didactic intentions and the architectural structures becomes very close, favoring levels of active learning.

The school complex is mainly made up of 5 volumes, the services are arranged on the north side while the classrooms are on the south side.  The beating heart of the school, however, is the central area, a true “Agora”, a place of study, reflection, exchange and fun. A flexible space that can be easily adapted to teaching and extra-didactic needs.
