We congratulate our GEOL. DAMIANO VACHA for winning the “Book Article Award 2022”, an important recognition awarded by the ICL – International Consortium on Landslides which identifies professional excellence in the study of landslides at a global level.
The article entitled “Mapping Post-fire Monthly Erosion Rates at the Catchment Scale Using Empirical Models Implemented in GIS. A Case Study in Northern Italy” describes the procedure for estimating soil erosion and landslide risk in burned areas starting from multispectral data acquired via satellite.
The article is included in the “Progress in Landslide Research and Technology” series which was created to support the KYOTO Landslides Commitment (KLC2020), a global program to study and reduce the risk deriving from landslide phenomena.
Among the authors, Prof Giuseppe Mandrone (Associate Professor of the Inter-University Department of Territorial Sciences, Projects and Policies (DIST)), Prof Matteo Garbarino (Associate Professor of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences) and Donato Morresi (Researcher of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences).
