TORRAZZA PIEMONTE – TURIN: CONNECTION TO THE SEWERAGE SYSTEM AND TO THE SEWAGE PLANT

Sertec Engineering Consulting developed the project for the connection to the Torrazza Piemonte sewer network and the Chivasso sewage treatment plant.
The main project involves the construction of a pressurized pipeline connecting the terminal outlet of the mixed sewer in Torrazza Piemonte to the final sewer collector of the hamlets Casabianca and Busignetto in Verolengo.
Given that the territory does not allow gravity connection of sewer networks, the following systems were used:
♦ sewage lifting stations
♦ pressurized pipelines
As far as possible , the company took advantage of existing sewer sections, considering that the sewage from the sewers subject to interception (sewers of the hamlets of Torrazza and Verolengo), consists only of the sewage derived with an appropriate spillway system, whose flow rate turns out to be a small percentage of what is possible in the mixed sewers to be used.
The choice of the existing collectors and the type of lift station to be used has been made in agreement with SMAT S.p.a. (Ltd.) on the basis of empirical considerations about their diameter and the area presumably served.
For the pressurized sewer pipeline, the company has chosen pipes that can resist to external corrosion, that is non-brittle pipes, with a low roughness coefficient and lower costs, and thus, for the same expense, they allow to build longer sections.
In the streets affected by the pipelines laying, the existing pavement type will be maintained.
