Sertec Engineering Consulting developed the project for the restoration and refunctionalization of the Orsini castle in the municipality of Rivalta. The objective of the intervention on the ancient castle is the recovery and restoration of the listed property and the redevelopment of the surrounding areas used as an urban park.
The project plans to accommodate a mix of functions within the building divided into training and study activities.
The structural interventions in the project are mainly located in correspondence with the «Ex stables» and «Citroneria» buildings and involve the realization of the following points:
♦ Former stables: the intervention involves the reinforcement of the existing floor on the first floor by creating a concrete casting, reinforced with electro-welded mesh; the construction of a new gallery with a load-bearing structure characterized by steel brackets (IPE-type profiles), embedded in the existing masonry and embedded in the concrete reinforcement casting of the floor envisaged in the project; the creation of a new internal staircase connecting the ground floor and the first floor, with a steel load-bearing structure; the construction of new reinforced concrete walls that house the new lift system; the consolidation of the load-bearing structure of the existing roof, through the insertion of steel tie rods
♦ Citroniera: the project involves the construction of a terrace with a load-bearing structure in galvanized steel. The load-bearing structure is made with a main steel frame. For the new frame, the construction of surface foundations in reinforced concrete cast in situ is envisaged
♦ west side wall: the intervention involves the creation of structural reinforcements characterized by the insertion of tie rods and possible masonry replacement interventions with the sew-unstitch technique
♦ forepart: the project involves the execution of structural consolidation interventions, aimed at restoring the safety conditions of the damaged portions of stone masonry.
