The Municipal Administration of Ivrea has entrusted Sertec Engineering Consulting with the restoration, conservative rehabilitation and extraordinary maintenance project of the main building of the former Olivetti nursery school in order to reopen to the public and once again serve the city of Ivrea.
The intervention financed by funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan program, PNRR, has 3 ambitious project objectives:
♦ guarantee the necessary functional and structural compliance of the historic school building, in line with the current needs of a service dedicated to the care and education of early childhood;
♦ enhance with timely building interventions the architectural work born in 1939 from the creative genius of the designers Figini and Pollini, a structure which, together with the other modern architectures left as a legacy from Adriano Olivetti’s industrial project, contributed to giving the city of Ivrea its Unesco Heritage certificate ‘Industrial city of the 20th century’
♦ complete the redevelopment works of the external areas, partially promoted in the previous batch of works, enhancing the large green spaces, adorned with Mediterranean vegetation and regularly shaded by broad-leaved trees, and restoring the original equipment (fountain, pergola, fences, etc.) which they constitute a further extension of the internal space of the kindergarten. It will thus be possible to restore the spaces for outdoor recreation and, subsequently, open the gates of the historic garden to the city of Ivrea
