CASALE MONFERRATO – ALESSANDRIA: NEW HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANT ON PO RIVER

IDRO BAVENO s.r.l. entrusted Sertec Engineering Consulting with the works for the design and construction of the new hydroelectric power plant with derivation from the Po River and moving crossbar with inflatable tubular structure.

The construction of the plant involved the raise of the watercourse levels, that is functional for the derivation of the water flow by the plant itself, by means of an “inflatable” tubular type crossbar with variable geometry and the construction of the power plant on the left bank of the river, straddling the barrage section.
Based on the different functions, and the different levels of complexity of the work, the structural elements were analyzed according to the following subdivision:

♦ crossbar in the riverbed, consisting of a bottom elevation slab raised by means of an inflatable tubular crossbar
♦ lateral intake structure on the left bank, immediately upstream of the planned crossbeam, from which the diversion channel originates
♦ central building, fully underground building below the floodplain, housing the production units and electromechanical equipment
♦ return canal in the riverbed and connecting section with the existing bank defense
♦ ascending staircase for ichthyofauna, located next to the central building
♦ ramp for canoe passage in the right bank
♦ delivery cabin, consisting of Enel room, user room and measurement room.

The above-listed works develop for a total longitudinal extension of about 184 m straddling the weir crossing, excluding the connecting section downstream of the drain.
