The Agile Cyclopolis

Design of the Intermunicipal Cycle Path

Client: Collegno – Rivoli – Alpignano Municipality and Piedmont Region

Budget: € 1.001.044,16

Partner:

Construction of an intermunicipal cycling route connecting Alpignano, Rivoli, Collegno, and Turin, linking the lower Susa Valley to the city center.

The objective is to create a direct connection between the lower Susa Valley and central Turin, promoting sustainable mobility toward services, industrial hubs, and residential areas. The main route, approximately 12 km long, is complemented by a link connecting Grugliasco railway station to the Borgata Paradiso district.

The alignment has been divided into seven macro-zones, identified according to infrastructural and landscape constraints such as railway lines, major road arteries, agricultural areas, and parks. The design follows regional guidelines, including dedicated cycle paths, traffic-calmed zones, landscaped separation strips, and colored interlocking paving to enhance safety. Bicycle parking facilities distributed along the entire route complete the project.

The intervention represents a strategic infrastructure aimed at connecting territories and promoting the everyday use of bicycles.
