Restoration and adaptive reuse of Villa Nigra.
The intervention aims to implement an ambitious program of redevelopment, conservation restoration, and new functional use of the historic villa and its park-garden, once the residence of Costantino Nigra, a distinguished statesman and writer of the Italian Risorgimento.
Located on the hillside of Castelnuovo Nigra, the villa is composed of several interconnected elements: the main residence adjacent to the remains of the Castle of the Counts of San Martino, the ruins of the tower and castle, an external building with large glass surfaces formerly used as a winter garden, and a space once used as a stable, along with a multi-level park-garden.
Given the complexity of the site and its state of abandonment, the program has been divided into five intervention phases: safety measures, restoration of the park-garden, structural consolidation, conservation restoration, and adaptive reuse.
