New Museum of the Cogne Mining Site
Cliente: Cogne Municipality
Budget: € 983.221,00
Partner: Arch. Fabio Bonetti, Arch. Deborah Bruno
Redevelopment of the “Miners’ Village” of Cogne, transforming it into a modern and fully accessible museum as part of the Regional Mining Park. The project reorganizes buildings and pathways to create a comprehensive museum experience, connecting the site to the Cogne Station. Innovative elements are included, such as a small train, walkways, and bypass routes designed to make the visit more dynamic and engaging.
The museum explores a range of themes, including the environment, geology, industrial archaeology, history, and tourism. The exhibition route follows a circular layout, incorporating the train tunnel, which is enclosed by a glazed façade inspired by traditional mining galleries.
The intervention enhances the site, establishing it as one of the largest mining museums in Italy. The design process involved multiple areas of expertise to ensure harmonious integration with the surrounding mountain landscape.
