Lining of Consortium Irrigation Canals

Completion of the Lining of Consortium Irrigation Canals

Client: Consorzio Irriguo di Chivasso

Budget:

Partner:

The intervention is aimed at reducing water losses from a resource of high economic value, as it is pumped from the Dora Baltea River with significant energy and operational costs. Currently, a substantial portion of the water is lost due to seepage through the permeable soils that make up much of the beds of the existing canals.

The project includes the completion

of the lining of the consortium irrigation canals, improving their hydraulic efficiency and substantially reducing water losses. The intervention enables the implementation of a more flexible and rational irrigation system, capable of optimizing the use of water resources.

On the one hand, it reduces the volume of water required to ensure proper irrigation, avoiding waste; on the other, it significantly lowers pumping and management costs, providing tangible economic and environmental sustainability benefits for the area served.
