ANGROGNA – TURIN: RESTORATION OF ANGROGNA RIVER BED

The Municipal Administration of Angrogna has entrusted Sertec Engineering Consulting with the project for works to restore the Angrogna riverbed at the Rio of the Arcia intake and the Barmafredda bridge following the flood event of May 29, 2008.
The assignment has included the drafting of an overall preliminary design of the entire section of the riverbed and the drafting of a final and executive design divided as follows:
♦ the interventions of the 1st lot have included the hydraulic arrangement of the riverbed and banks on the left and right of the Angrogna stream, the widening and construction of two small bridges and the environmental rehabilitation of an area on the orographic left of the stream
♦ the interventions of the 2nd lot have involved the hydraulic rehabilitation of the riverbed and the banks of the Arci stream and the construction of 2 weirs

Particular attention has been paid to identify a suitable support plane for the foundation structures of all longitudinal defense works in order to have a greater adherence with the bottom of the riverbed, avoiding the weakening of the natural armor formed on the bottom over the course of time.
The spoil material coming from the excavations has been recycled to fill depressions in the riverbed or of the bank for less environmental impact, while the spoil material coming from the demolition of masonry has been taken to the landfill.
In order to prevent the work from having a large environmental impact, an attempt was/has been made to contain changes to the good regime of the watercourse: discontinuity elements in the riverbed and banks have been safeguarded to encourage the formation of micro-environments for the different biological communities.
